According to Best Buddies, a College Buddy is "a college student who commits to a one-to-one friendship with a person with intellectual or developmental disabilities for one academic year."

A College Buddy must:

1) Go on a one-on-one outing with her Buddy twice a month. Activities may include painting pottery, watching movies,  and attending on-campus concerts together.

2) Contact her Buddy at least once a week via telephone, email, snail mail, Facebook,  instant messenger, or in-person.

3) Participate in monthly group activities with the rest of the chapter. Previous group activities have included going bowling, watching movies at the local theater, visiting the aquarium and zoo, as well as participating in on-campus Best Buddies holiday parties with yummy snacks along with arts and crafts.

4) Attend chapter meetings.

5) Be a full-time student.

6) Complete a Best Buddies Membership Application and Matching Survey online on the chapter portal at: www.bestbuddiesonline.org.

7) Complete a Friendship Update online every month to report weekly contact along with monthly activities on the chapter portal at: www.bestbuddiesonline.org.

If you think that you do not have the time to commit to an actual Buddy, you can become an Associate Member and join us for some fun during our monthly group activities. According to Best Buddies, an associate member "provides chapter support as needed, but is not matched in a one-to-one friendship." Although they cannot be on the executive board, a commitee of associate members can assist with organizing chapter logistics, planning activities, along with additional tasks.

An associate member must:

1) Participate in chapter events and monthly group activities with the rest of the chapter.

2) Attend chapter meetings.
